Steel and Iron Industry: Rizhao is one of the steel production bases in China. It has the largest ore berth. Neighboring the ports, there is over 100 km2industrial area with sufficient water and power supply.The iron and steel industry has been set up leading by Rizhao Steel & Iron Plant with production of 3.5 million t/a. It is planned that Rizhao will become a iron and steel base with the production of 20 million t/a by 2010.

Pulp and Paper Industry: Rizhao has the perfect conditions to develop pulp and paper industry. There is a 50,000t class wood chip jetty in RizhaoPort. Rizhao SSYMB Paper & Pulp Co., Ltd is constructing new projects which can produce 1-million- ton pulp and 1-million-ton paper. By 2010, Rizhao will be the major pulp and paper base with production capacity of 3 million tons annually.

Petrochemical Industry: At present 100,000-300,000-ton petroleum berths are under construction. Singaporean Yuanfeng Pitch Company and Landbridge Pitch Project are being constructed and engineered. By 2010, Rizhao will be one of important coastal bases and port distributing centers for petrochemical products with a 10-million-ton processing capacity and 20 million tons of distribution capacity.
Grease Industry: Rizhao is an important port for imported soybean processing and refining with processing and refining capacity of 1.5 million tons in 2004. Four representative enterprises include Huanghai Cereal & Oil Company, etc. It is planned Rizhao will be built as a base for greaserefining industry with a soybean processing capacity of 5million tons by 2007.

urniture Industry: Rizhao is the largest timber distributing center in Northern Yangtze River and a newly-risingprocessing base for furniture on imported timber with exported value USD100 million annually. It is planned over 100 manufacturers related with furniture-making, wood-processing and their auxiliary industries will be set up by 2007, making Rizhao an important base to produce and export timber products.
